Involvement
The Powell River Chamber of Commerce works hard to promote
local businesses. We also get involved with community functions.
Here are some of the things we do regularly, or have
participated in.
Annual Newcomers Social,
on a weeknight in October. Upper Complex. Booths displaying everything
there is to do in the area, get info on non profit groups, service clubs
and businesses who seek new members, customers, clients and volunteers.
Come and meet the Mayor and other local dignitaries. No fee to attend,
free refreshments.
Homeshow
We are the co-sponsor of the annual Homeshow at the Recreation Complex the
first weekend of each May. The show is operated by Evergreen Exhibitions
of Nanaimo, BC.
Wine and Cheese Socials
These events present networking & socializing opportunities to the
business community. Typically these are hosted by the Chamber and
sponsored by local businesses.
Youth Ambassador Program
The Chamber of Commerce congratulates the Ambassadors who participate in
the annual 7-month Ambassador program. A big thank you to all these
businesses & organizations for their sponsorship.

Volunteer Appreciation Awards
This dinner and awards event is organized to recognize the huge positive
impact volunteers make in this community. Spring event. Volunteer Award
Categories: Church, Team, Non-Profit, Youth & Service Club. Expect to see
this event repeated!
All Candidates Forum
The Chamber hosts a forum where the voting public can meet all candidates
vying for positions in municipal/Provincial & Federal government.
Candidates are given opportunities to present their platforms and respond
to questions from the voters.
SeaFair Business Decorating Contest
This annual contest sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce is another way
that local businesses can participate in SeaFair. Participating businesses
decorate their windows and inside of their stores for a chance to win
trophies for the categories of "Large Business", "Small Business", "Best
Window Display". Trophies can then be displayed for the following year in
the winner's business. Our local businesses are always enthusiastic with
their decorating efforts and staff dons costumes to match. Judging will be
taking place shortly before Seafair starts. Every year a different theme
is selected for the contest.
